#23 Thing

I took the survey.

I did not like self-guided training that you are forced to do. If I could have chosen specific parts of the exercise to learn about I might have enjoyed it more. It was not time well spent for me. The time it took to complete the exercises took away from my regular work. I'm glad i learned about downloading books and about the features of google. The rest of it didn't really apply to my position and i don't see me using it in the future. I really don't do social networking so that didn't apply to me either.

I like learning about new things generally but this was not a pleasant experience.

I think some of the things in the exercise was for public staff only and should not have been required of them only. Also, why was some staff allowed to skip this training - never even heard of it.

I think a lot of patrons would like this training.

Thing #22

Novelist

0-8 Classics

I did not find this useful. I do not recommend books to patons nor would I presume to know enough about children's fiction to do so.

Thing#21

Fiction Best Sellers

I would suggest to a patron who read a lot of fiction to use this to keep track of what's coming out and when.

Thing #20

Toys by James Patterson

Thing #19

I looked at each of the selected wiki's in the instructions and was really disappointed by my choices. How about one for classic film buffs, unusual animals of australia or medical miracles.

wookiepedia: not a Star Wars fan
college basketball: not a sports fan
narutopedia: what????
bookshelp fantastica: not a sci-fi fantasy fan
muppet wiki: please!
Wowpedia: please again!
uncyclopedia: unnecessary bad language on the first page. is this really necessary
survivor fan wiki: not a fan never seen the show.

Thing #18

I chose Favorite Actors and Favorite Authors.

1. Maureen O'Hara and John Wayne in "The Quiet Man" - a great movie from 1953 Republic Pictures.

2. James Patterson - author of many good detective stories some of which have been made into movies.

each entry was personalized by changing font size, font color, background, etc.,

I found this exercise useless. I had never even heard of wikis until now and anticipate this information never being used again.

Thing #17

Podcast
Storynory, The Wizard of Oz, Chapter 5
- this one was nice and good for kids.

LearnOutLoud, The Founding Documents, Federalist Paper #10
- this one was educationald and good if you had to review a historical paper

BBC, Blas, Irish Language Magazine
- this one was total useless to me since i don't speak traditional Irish - but was still interesting.
